Great Keppel Island

Nick and I just got back from Great Keppel Island and had a great time!  Great Keppel Island is located just a half hour ferry ride from Yeppoon which is a 2 hour car ride north from Gladstone.  We stayed in a tent at Svenson's Beach.  Here are some pictures of our campsite:
Lyndie picked us up from the ferry on the other side of the island and brought us to our campsite by boat.
Everything was beautiful.  It reminded me of Gilligan's Island.  This is the shower room with shell door knob.
A bag shower, luckily you could get hot water!
A little water station to retrieve water for cooking and showering.
Our tent equipped with a queen bed!

Lyndie and Carl were good host and took us on an adventure to a sea cave.  Carl also brought out his telescope one night and we could see the full moon in great detail.  Aside from the few run ins with Lyndie and Carl, we did not see another person the entire time we were there.  Our own private island!
This was the only downside...this spider is as large as my hand.

View from the kitchen
Sloppy Joes and baked beans just seemed like a good camping meal.

A bright full moon made night walks easy.

Outdoor kitchen with fridge and stove.

Spider limbo!

Gold Coast

Nick and I can check another Australian city off our list as we were able to visit the Gold Coast over the long weekend.  We enjoyed our time walking from skyscraper to beach while eating and eating and eating!

Nice Little Sunday

The things that we get up to on a typical Sunday:
Nick usually cooks his lunches for the week.  His method of cooking eggs has undergone several iterations.  He didn't like peeling the hard boiled eggs, so he experimented with cracking eggs in a muffin pan and placing in an oven.  That's evolved to what he does now, which is put all his eggs for the week into a cake pan.  He says he gets a lot of attention at work.  Wonder why.
Gourmet burgers.  The messier the better, I say!  Notice these were so messy I had to remove my wedding ring.
Cinderella cleaning the garage.
Nick has been waking extremely early to watch the Boilers play football.  Impressive especially considering the mediocre product on the field.
I've been hard at work on several craft projects.
My first quilt!

Nick's been spending so much time around Aussies that he's starting to dress like them.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year

The weather's right.  It's time.  I can feel it in my bones.  My favorite time of year is here.  It is...

(Drumroll please...)

Boilermaker Football.

Next Sunday, at 3am local time, my Boilers will be on the road taking on Cincinnati.  I can't be there in person.  And I will be relying on the questionable internet  to be able to watch them at all.  But I'm still pumped. After, all, I am a Boilermaker.

Somewhat embarrassingly, of the 10 best moments in my life, Purdue is in some way involved in at least 7 of them.  So this web log is dedicated to some of those moments.

At the top is a play for which a picture won't do justice:

My first Homecoming

Tailgating at Slaytor Hill during All-American Marching Band Pregame show

Marching with Uncle Scott and the Alumni Band

Mecca for any fan of the Big Ten.
BOILER UP
Win in Evanston with my college room mates

Homecoming Pep Rally - Joe Tiller signature on football
Game at Rice

After big win against Ohio State

Boilermakers don't smile

I expect to see this often on 9/14, when the hated Irish come to town.

I told Katie today that no matter where we are, no matter our plans, we'll be in Pasadena on 1/1 if Purdue's there.  That's just the fine print on any Christmas plans that came with marrying me.

All Hail Our Old Purdue
